Biathlon at Pacific Shooters Assoc.

West Coast Nordic Club organizes the Biathlon program at PSA.  Some WCN members are also Cadets from 102 Fraser Corp, Coquitlam. The majority of our members are aged 11 – 17, although we do have some adult members and would welcome more.

Our club has six rifles to support beginners, as well as a collection of roller skis and poles for summer training. We are privileged to have a reserved time slot at the range for Biathlon shooting practices.

Practices:
Are always held on Sundays:

May to Aug.:
12:30 – 14:30, Precision Shooting at PSA;
15:00 to 16:00 Roller Skiing at Seymour Conservation Area

Sept. to Mar.:
09:30 – 11:00 Dry land or snow ski training;
12:00 - 14:30, Biathlon Shooting at PSA

April: We always take April off.

Summer activities are supplemented with picnics, hikes and occasional weekend training camp.

Winter activities are supplemented with out of town trips to biathlon and cross country races.

Our more competitive athletes also train in between Sunday practices to increase fitness and shooting skills.

Biathlon: 2004-2005 Season:
After a very promising summer and fall, winter has been a hard season for Biathlon due to the extremely unusual snow year. competitions. Our members hosted the Biathlon BC Summer Shooting Camp, in July 2004, attended the Biathlon BC Snow Camps in late November and the Canmore race trip in December. Alan and Clay coached provincial athletes at both the Biathlon BC Camps and on the Canmore road trip.

We got off to a great start in December and January, with early and good snow, but it was all down hill from a bout January 12th.  Despite this, our athletes have done well in provincial competitions.
